Sandy Hook School Tragedy

Good morning,

I have cried so many tears over this school shooting. My heart hurts for the parents of these precious children that was taken from us so soon. I can't even imagine what the parents are going through, the depth of their pain.  I finally had to stop watching T.V. it just became to painful.

Yesterday I watched some of the dr. Phil show and the topic was about grieving. At the end of the show he shared a poem about the Sandy Hook tragedy. I had to stop and turn off the t.v. about half way through the poem, it was to painful to hear. You know how sometimes you can read something and it is hard, but you can handle it. Then you hear someone read it out loud and it effects you in a different way. This is what happened to me yesterday when Dr. Phil was reading the poem.

Later I went to his website and found the poem and printed it out. I thought I would share it with you. This is a beautiful poem and I hope it brings a little peace to some.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Graphic 45 Goodness

Hi Friends!

Today I wanted to share with you the teacher's gifts that I created. First I want to say this is not my idea, I saw this on Pintrest. I thought it was such a cute idea so I gave it a go!

So I ran to Michael's and got two tin cans which happened to be on sale..oh yea!  Then I went and grabbed my Graphic 45 goodies, pulled out my ABC Primer and went to work. These were SO easy to make, took a while, but very simple. I think I spent more time shopping for the stuff to go inside than creating these. I think these would be cute for Valentine gifts, birthday gifts and Halloween gifts. Of course you would have to come up with some creative notes to include in the cans.

Give these a try you will have a blast making these!!

Hi Friends!

I have another layout to share with you today.  I think this is layout number 9 using the Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection. This is a layout of my Grandmother from 1956. I know the year because it is printed on the side of the picture. I plan to add some journaling down the side to the left of the picture. As usual I did a lot of distressing using my zutter distrezz it all. I am starting to think that I should wear a mask when I do this. There is so many little paper particles in the air and I know they are getting in my lungs..  Something to think about.. I used some burlap and cheesecloth around the flowers. I love the look that the burlap and cheesecloth gives the layout. I also used some Liquid Pearls by Ranger and the sweet cameo is from the Gabrielle collection.

I was going through my graphics yesterday and found some beautiful Christmas graphics. I thought I would share them with you. I don't remember where I picked these up, but please use for your personal crafts. Oh and if you create something with them, please send me a picture. I would love to see what you create!

More Bo Bunny

Hi Friends!

I finished layout number 8 for my family album! I am so happy with the way these layouts are turning out! I don't think I could have picked a better line of papers to use than Bo Bunny's Gabrielle collection. It is simply magical!
I did a lot of distressing on this layout of my mom. I used the cutest little fence that I got at Joann's  for cheap (I like cheap:) The big burlap flower at the bottom is jolee's boutique that  I picked up at Michael's. Most of the flowers that I am using are Prima and I don't remember which line. I know it is not Gabrielle, but it matches so nice.
Once I finish all the layouts I am going to ask my mom to come up here to help me with the journaling. Just not sure of ages/what is going on/where/when...you get the idea:)

On another non-scrap booking note..Ethan's soccer team won their first game  yesterday! He was so happy. I wanted to share a picture of him doing the head butting the ball giving his mom a stroke thing..He was quite proud:) After my husband picked me up off the ground I guess I was proud..kinda:)

Until next time...

Savannah, Thanksgiving and colds..oh my!

Hi Friends!

Well I am finally back among the living:)  Peter and I took a romantic trip to Savannah Nov. 17-21st.
We had an amazing time...beautiful hotel room with a king size four poster bed, delicious food and cold weather, it was so relaxing. After we got home we had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my daughter's house (her first year hosting), we had my brother-in-law visiting and then I got the worse cold I have ever had! I am just now feeling better. Then my husband and son got sick. Oh it was not fun!

So yesterday I got to work in my craft room. It has been three weeks since I have created anything. It felt so good to sit at my desk, get my inks out, touch the paper and craft!  So I created another layout of my mom for the family album I am creating. I saw this sketch that  I used for my layout somewhere and I just can't remember.
I used Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection to create this. I used some burlap that I pulled apart until it was almost just string. I also used some cheesecloth and then used Gesso around the edges, on the flowers and the leaves. I really liked the way it turned out:)

Thankful

Hi friends!

I was looking through Pintrest the other day and saw this pin. I LOVE IT! I thought I would share this with you and see if it has the same effect on you as it did me. This has me really thinking, and I love how the writer put a positive spin on something that most people would find negative.

Example of how this affected me is...last night I was cooking my family's favorite meal and my oven died. This (cheap) oven was already here in the house when we moved in and I hated it.
So a few months ago I was cooking some soup and one of the burners blew. I mean sparks flying everywhere and then fire...FIRE! So I knew that if  one burner burned out the others were close behind. Never occurred to me that the oven would do the same thing...it did..FIRE. So after my dinner was ruined I called my sweet husband to let him know what happened. He is such a good listener. He calmly told me that we should be thankful that this oven did not cause major damage (burn the house down) and that it lasted as long as it did. Once I thought about it, I realized he is so right!

Take a read and let me know how it makes you feel.

Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection

Good morning!

I finally was able to get this layout finished. Had the start of a migraine and sometimes it hits full on and sometimes it fades away. This one faded away:)

I am still working on the album that I am creating of my family, well all the woman in my family. This is a layout of my mom. I still need to get my mom up here to help with the journaling.  I used my new favorite Martha Stewart wildflower punch. I also did some distressing and water distressing and some inking. Used some beautiful Prima flowers that I got at Hobby Lobby and the butterflies I found over at Swirlydoos.

On another note, please go check out Memorable Seasons. They have some new challenges up and they are wonderful.

Thanks for stopping by and please leave my a comment so I knew you were here:)

I dream in Flowers

Good afternoon!

I'm here to share another that I created with the bo bunny gabrielle collection. This is a layout of my mom when she was about 14-15, wasn't she pretty:)

I used my wonderful Martha Stewart Wildflowers punch and did a lot of distressing. Printed and hand cut the butterflies and the flourish is say it in crystals from Prima. Been holding that sweet embellishment for a while and thought this layout would would be a perfect place for it:) Some of the flowers are Prima and a few are just extras that I had in my stash. This album that I am doing is coming together so nicely!

I will be back Sunday or Monday with another layout made with this collection!

Have a wonderful weekend!

Blessings,

Kasey

Happy Halloween!

We are all so excited that it is Halloween. My sweet son was making spooky ghosts sounds this morning, he was so cute!  This year he wanted to dress up in a scary costume,  I said ok but nothing with blood and no Zombie! So he picked Ghost Face from Scream. Can't wait to get pictures!

On the scrapbooking front I have been working on the challenges over at Memorable Seasons. I finished another one yesterday. I am putting together a scrapbook of the woman in my family. Kind of a generations type album.  I am using the Gabrielle collection from bo bunny.  I have completed the cover of the album and two pages, one of me and one of my mom.  The challenge for this page was to use banners. I used my new Martha punch on this and some liquid  pearls to make the swirls.

Thanks for stopping by and have a safe and fun Halloween!

P.S. I would love to hear from you if you visit my blog. Would like to know if I get any visitors:)

Bo Bunny

Afternoon!

Over at Memorable Seasons they are having some great challenges. I spent the afternoon yesterday completing one of those challenges. I am so glad that  I did!  The challenge was to use one shape over over in your layout.

So I pulled out my Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection and went to town!  I did a lot of distressing, inking and water distressing. I used some old book pages that I misted with Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist Suede. I hand cut all of the butterflies and placed them on my layout so that they look like they are flying. I must have placed and replaced those butterflies 100 times!

Prima Sweet Fairy

Good morning!

Here is a layout that I created out of some left over Prima Sweet Fairy papers. I really like this line, so easy to work with:)

This is a layout of my granddaughter Hannah. I have used this picture many times as it is my favorite!  The little banner at the bottom of the layout was created with my new Pretty Pennants Cricut Cartridge. I really like using this cartridge and there are so many different style banners.  I also used a quote from the Tinkerbell..All you need is Fath, Trust and a little Pixie Dust! Oh and did you see the sweet little fairy charm? So Sweet :}

Life

Good morning!

This morning I am in my scrapbook room working on some layouts, hoping to get rid of this headache that I have. I have been dealing with sinus stuff and usually my sinus headache will turn into a migraine. Not fun!

This layout is of Hannah of course. I had some left over paper so I thought I would create a layout with it. I used my new Martha Stewart punch in each corner, did some distressing and inking. I used my favorite quote in the bottom left corner and it reads... Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take, but by the moments that take our breath away. I have a picture of that quote hanging in my living room where I can see it everyday. Love it!

Thanks for stopping by and have a blessed day!

Purple Love

Good morning!

Ok first let me say that purple is one of my least favorite colors. Don't know why...

Now let me say that last week my handsome husband was wearing a soft purple shirt and gray pants. He looked so handsome! For some reason I knew I wanted to scrap that color combo:)

Fast forward to me going to Michael's and finding the perfect paper, flowers and other yummy goodies!

As soon as I got home I started putting together a layout. I have always wanted my layouts to have a bit of whimsy to them. Sometimes I think I achieve it, sometimes I don't. I tried really hard to make this layout whimsical. I think I did..kind of:)

The pictures are of Hannah my sweet granddaughter. These were taken about a year ago when we spent the day together.

I was browsing through my graphics and thought I would share these spooky ones with you. Please enjoy!

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Have a wonderful day:)
