Sandy Hook School Tragedy

Good morning,

I have cried so many tears over this school shooting. My heart hurts for the parents of these precious children that was taken from us so soon. I can't even imagine what the parents are going through, the depth of their pain.  I finally had to stop watching T.V. it just became to painful.

Yesterday I watched some of the dr. Phil show and the topic was about grieving. At the end of the show he shared a poem about the Sandy Hook tragedy. I had to stop and turn off the t.v. about half way through the poem, it was to painful to hear. You know how sometimes you can read something and it is hard, but you can handle it. Then you hear someone read it out loud and it effects you in a different way. This is what happened to me yesterday when Dr. Phil was reading the poem.

Later I went to his website and found the poem and printed it out. I thought I would share it with you. This is a beautiful poem and I hope it brings a little peace to some.

Twas' 11 days before Christmas, around 9:38
when 20 beautiful children stormed through heaven's gate.
their smiles were contagious, their laughter filled the air.
they could hardly believe all the beauty they saw there.
they were filled with such joy, they didn't know what to say.
they remembered nothing of what had happened earlier that day.
"where are we?" asked a little girl, as quiet as a mouse.
"this is heaven." declared a small boy. "we're spending Christmas at God's house."
when what to their wondering eyes did appear,
but Jesus, their savior, the children gathered near.
He looked at them and smiled, and they smiled just the same.
then He opened His arms and He called them by name.
and in that moment was joy, that only heaven can bring
those children all flew into the arms of their King
and as they lingered in the warmth of His embrace,
one small girl turned and looked at Jesus' face.
and as if He could read all the questions she had
He gently whispered to her, "I'll take care of mom and dad."
then He looked down on earth, the world far below
He saw all of the hurt, the sorrow, and woe
then He closed His eyes and He outstretched His hand,
"Let My power and presence re-enter this land!"
"may this country be delivered from the hands of fools"
"I'm taking back my nation. I'm taking back my schools!"
then He and the children stood up without a sound.
"come now my children, let me show you around."
excitement filled the space, some skipped and some ran.
all displaying enthusiasm that only a small child can.
and i heard Him proclaim as He walked out of sight,
"in the midst of this darkness, I AM STILL THE LIGHT."

Graphic 45 Goodness

Hi Friends!

Today I wanted to share with you the teacher's gifts that I created. First I want to say this is not my idea, I saw this on Pintrest. I thought it was such a cute idea so I gave it a go!

So I ran to Michael's and got two tin cans which happened to be on sale..oh yea!  Then I went and grabbed my Graphic 45 goodies, pulled out my ABC Primer and went to work. These were SO easy to make, took a while, but very simple. I think I spent more time shopping for the stuff to go inside than creating these. I think these would be cute for Valentine gifts, birthday gifts and Halloween gifts. Of course you would have to come up with some creative notes to include in the cans.

Give these a try you will have a blast making these!!

Hi Friends!

I have another layout to share with you today.  I think this is layout number 9 using the Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection. This is a layout of my Grandmother from 1956. I know the year because it is printed on the side of the picture. I plan to add some journaling down the side to the left of the picture. As usual I did a lot of distressing using my zutter distrezz it all. I am starting to think that I should wear a mask when I do this. There is so many little paper particles in the air and I know they are getting in my lungs..  Something to think about.. I used some burlap and cheesecloth around the flowers. I love the look that the burlap and cheesecloth gives the layout. I also used some Liquid Pearls by Ranger and the sweet cameo is from the Gabrielle collection.

I was going through my graphics yesterday and found some beautiful Christmas graphics. I thought I would share them with you. I don't remember where I picked these up, but please use for your personal crafts. Oh and if you create something with them, please send me a picture. I would love to see what you create!

More Bo Bunny

Hi Friends!

I finished layout number 8 for my family album! I am so happy with the way these layouts are turning out! I don't think I could have picked a better line of papers to use than Bo Bunny's Gabrielle collection. It is simply magical!
I did a lot of distressing on this layout of my mom. I used the cutest little fence that I got at Joann's  for cheap (I like cheap:) The big burlap flower at the bottom is jolee's boutique that  I picked up at Michael's. Most of the flowers that I am using are Prima and I don't remember which line. I know it is not Gabrielle, but it matches so nice.
Once I finish all the layouts I am going to ask my mom to come up here to help me with the journaling. Just not sure of ages/what is going on/where/when...you get the idea:)

On another non-scrap booking note..Ethan's soccer team won their first game  yesterday! He was so happy. I wanted to share a picture of him doing the head butting the ball giving his mom a stroke thing..He was quite proud:) After my husband picked me up off the ground I guess I was proud..kinda:)

Until next time...

Savannah, Thanksgiving and colds..oh my!

Hi Friends!

Well I am finally back among the living:)  Peter and I took a romantic trip to Savannah Nov. 17-21st.
We had an amazing time...beautiful hotel room with a king size four poster bed, delicious food and cold weather, it was so relaxing. After we got home we had a wonderful Thanksgiving at my daughter's house (her first year hosting), we had my brother-in-law visiting and then I got the worse cold I have ever had! I am just now feeling better. Then my husband and son got sick. Oh it was not fun!

So yesterday I got to work in my craft room. It has been three weeks since I have created anything. It felt so good to sit at my desk, get my inks out, touch the paper and craft!  So I created another layout of my mom for the family album I am creating. I saw this sketch that  I used for my layout somewhere and I just can't remember.
I used Bo Bunny Gabrielle collection to create this. I used some burlap that I pulled apart until it was almost just string. I also used some cheesecloth and then used Gesso around the edges, on the flowers and the leaves. I really liked the way it turned out:)

Thank you so much for stopping by!

Blessings
